About unfolding Edits

Unfolding Edits was set up by former in-house senior editor Ana Fletcher to demystify the art of editing.

Like most of her peers, early in her career Ana was given training in the essential editorial skills needed for copy-editing and proofreading. But the type of editing she found herself doing day to day looked very different. It involved talking about the ideas at the heart of a project, grappling with a book’s shape and structure, and helping authors find their voice on the page.

Ana was interested in creating more space for editors and agents to learn about editing. In 2024, she established Unfolding Edits to expand the industry’s approach to editorial training and development. She now designs and runs workshops that give everyone who takes part a framework for editing that will serve them for their whole careers.

As Unfolding Edits, Ana also edits fiction and non-fiction titles for publishers and literary agencies, and works with her clients to use those edits as training tools for their junior members of staff.
